It's time for change

I look back and wonder how did we get where we are?

Now the numbers I am putting down are off the top of my head; but it seems like forty years ago a person typically worked one or three jobs in their lifetime. They would do their time, get their gold watch and pension for retirement. Times were hard but everybody pulled together with the idea that life would be easier for the next generation.

Well now about twenty years ago, that number has gone up to about five jobs or so, I believe. The message then was that you needed to plan for retirement in which Social Security was a major component.

Now in the last decade or so we have been seeing a continuing spiral in the stability of the economics in this country. Where layoffs were once rare, not counting the time of the Depression they have now become a regular occurrence in today’s market.

I don’t know about you but I am tired of a roller coaster ride that is completely out of my control. I want as much control as possible of my own life and future. Please understand that I don’t believe it’s all going to be roses but I have been on the fence for a few years now and it’s time to get serious.
